As the year draws to an end, it is a great opportunity to reflect on some of our remarkable achievements. This year, VDM proudly celebrated its 10th Anniversary, and we want to highlight some of our key movements.

While the container size might imply a quick operation, it required thorough planning to facilitate a smooth transition from Cape Town to Kazakhstan. This 1 x 40ft High Cube Container contained 8 planters along with accessories, totaling nearly 11 tons. The journey began in Cape Town, South Africa, traveling via sea freight to Mersin, Turkey, and then by road to final destination Kazakhstan. Loading took approximately 11 hours due to the cargo size and shape. This careful process ensured that all units fit into the container, maximising space and minimising costs. Ultimately, what matters most is the successful movement of goods, keeping our client informed throughout the process, and ensuring all cargo arrived at its destination in pristine condition. After all, our slogan proudly states, WE DELIVER MORE.

VDM also had another exciting movement from the United States. 1 x 40ft High Cube Container, weighing almost 8 tons and carrying 13 pallets of agricultural tires, made its way from Kansas City by rail to port of load Newark, USA, before continuing to Durban, South Africa. Upon arrival, the container was unpacked and re-loaded onto a flatbed for final delivery. Our client was amazed by the overnight delivery, which took nearly 9 hours, ensuring the cargo arrived in record time. Throughout the entire process, the client received 24/7 updates regarding pickup, loading, documentation, tracking, arrival, and delivery. Our extensive experience with procedures, legislation, customs tariffs, and import duties facilitated a seamless international shipping process.

The transportation of heavy lift, project cargo, and non-containerised cargo is a specialised area of shipping that demands extensive expertise, a field in which VDM has excelled for over 60 years. The most recent Break Bulk shipment was executed flawlessly, moving a +56-ton load from Tianjin, China to Durban, before being trucked to its final destination in Cape Town, South Africa. This abnormal cargo required the coordination of VDM to manage the intricate operations, while ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations.

Logistics is a word that you would see most often on the side of trucks. it might sound like a simple-enough business of moving things around, but it is growing to be more complex than this. Good logistics can make all the difference to a company’s ability to serve its clients. In an ever changing world of commerce, where the process of doing business with end users keeps evolving, the importance of logistics becomes more prevalent. At 2020 Logistics we know that the word has an even bigger meaning: it is all about the management of the flow of materials through an organisation, from raw materials to finished goods – ensuring the successful delivery of the right product to the right place at the right time. The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination to always apply the best of ourselves to any situation. Our aim is to follow a forward-thinking, proactive approach to all shipments thereby ensuring that all global freight forwarding and procurement challenges are effectively managed. At 2020 Logistics we have a clear vision in mind – to ensure we do everything we can, to move your business forward.
