Red Wolf Global South Africa Successfully Ships The Beast 3680 – Bandit Horizontal Grinder from Réunion Island

Cape Town, South Africa: Transporting heavy machinery from Réunion Island to South Africa presents significant logistical challenges. Situated in the Indian Ocean, the island has limited direct shipping services, with infrequent RORO and breakbulk sailings. Combined with specialised cargo handling requirements, freight costs per ton are considerably higher than standard container shipments.

Under the leadership of Martin Scholtz, Red Wolf Global South Africa successfully coordinated the complex transport of The Beast 3680 – Bandit Horizontal Grinder from Réunion to Cape Town, providing the client with an efficient, cost-effective, and timely solution.

To ensure seamless operations, engineers were deployed to Réunion to brief the shipbuilder, Piriou, and coordinate with local partner Velogic. This on-site collaboration bridged the language barrier between the South African team and the French-speaking workforce. A detailed cutting list was developed, specifying that the machine would be disassembled into more than 30 components.

Following cleaning and preparation, the equipment was transported from its rural location to Piriou’s workshop near the Port of Réunion. The 14-meter-long, 3.5-meter-wide, and 4.2-meter-high machine was carefully dismantled to fit onto a flat rack and an open-top container. The chassis and three axles were secured to the flat rack, while the remaining components were loaded strategically into the container.

The Bandit Beast was then shipped from Pointe des Galets, Réunion, via Port Louis, Mauritius, to the Port of Cape Town, South Africa. Through meticulous planning and coordination, Red Wolf Global, guided by Martin Scholtz, not only reduced overall transport costs but also secured an earlier sailing than conventional RORO or breakbulk options would allow.
